2. *droooooool*
but my computer is way too old to play it. I'm going to have to wait, and it WILL kill me

Any and all concerns about gameplay changes are gone. I was worried about "one unit per tile," but it looks like it'll be far more about tactical moves, then "chock their rivers with our dead" stacks of doom. And I love ranged fire.

It didn't address whether naval forces would have ranged fire as well. I hope they do; the absolute worst part of CIV IV was how they gutted air and naval power. Why the hell can't a battleship fire at an infantry division on the shore?

3. much longer playthrough stream here

There's also a part 2, which has much more combat.

Apparently they've changed the combat quite a bit to match more closely other, older military games; I forget the titles. I never played those games. But the newer combat kind of reminds me of the land battles from Sid Meier's Pirates. Lots melee units slugging it out, with long range units playing a huge, and arguably most fun, role.

So combat should be a lot more fun.

4. Not even gonna look at it.
With 12 hour school/work days being my schedule for the next few years I'd never get to play it.

Jealous.
