1. Finished the single player story last night.
Save up your cash and buy it. It's worth it. And I haven't even played the co-op mode yet!

I was going to write a Dead Space 2 review, but that can go to someone else; I'm not done with Dead Space 2 yet and am in fact very much stuck. I'll be writing a Portal 2 review instead (with screenies; I'll do my best to avoid too many big spoilers) in the next couple of days or so.

I. LOVE. This. Game.

Just a couple points: if you can play Source games on your PC reasonably well, Portal 2 will run just as well as the other Source games. It's a beautiful game, visually; the liquids (well, okay: slime) covering the floors in some areas just look fantastic. A couple new gameplay mechanics- the Aperture Science Hard Light Bridge and the Aperture Science Aerial Faith Plate, to name two- only add to the gameplay. The voice acting is very well done, and the plot expands quite a lot upon the thin skeleton exhibited in the original.

And, of course, GLaDOS is just the best villain ever. And she's not the only one.

Save those pennies and buy this game (preferably for the PC). It is most definitely worth it.

Also, if you have a PC and plan to get Portal 2 for it: yes, you can indeed play splitscreen coop on a single PC even though the mode isn't on the menu! It's an undocumented feature that requires a 360 for PC controller or a (free) 360 controller emulator, but as the Source engine contains full splitscreen (and multiscreen!) support, it is possible; I just got it working tonight myself and it functions nearly perfectly (and is completely playable). I don't know why Valve didn't code it in officially, but it's there and it works.

If you buy only ONE game on Steam this entire year, make it Portal 2. It's just that good.

2. what are the graphics requirements?
I have a basic laptop. It runs WoW okay, and the old Shogun: Total War and Civ2, but I haven't tried anything more advanced than that graphically. I'm reasonably certain my graphics is all just what's on the motherboard.

Also, is the first Portal like a free game or something? I seem to remember that.

3. Here ya go:
PC System Requirements
OS: Windows 7 / Vista / XP
Processor: 3.0 GHz P4, Dual Core 2.0 (or higher) or AMD64X2 (or higher)
Memory: 1GB XP / 2GB Vista
Hard Disk Space: At least 7.6 GB of Space
Video: Video card must be 128 MB or more and should be a DirectX 9-compatible with support for Pixel Shader 2.0b (ATI Radeon X800 or higher / NVIDIA GeForce 7600 or higher / Intel HD Graphics 2000 or higher).
Audio: DirectX 9.0c compatible

Here are the requirements for the first Portal:

PC System Requirements
Minimum: 1.7 GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, DirectX® 8.1 level Graphics Card (Requires support for SSE), Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Recommended: Pentium 4 processor (3.0GHz, or better), 1GB RAM, DirectX® 9 level Graphics Card, Windows® 7 (32/64-bit)/Vista/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

If you'd like to see if your laptop can run Portal 2, I recommend downloading Alien Swarm (which is free), as that game apparently uses the same version of the Source engine as Portal 2. If you can run Alien Swarm, even with everything in the video options turned down all the way, you should be able to run Portal 2.

The original Portal was free last year as part of some promotion or other, and is now $10 on Steam.

6. Absolutley 100% loved it
Although I'll always slightly favor the charm of the orginal, I think (probably because it was such an unexpected pleasure); Portal 2 is one of the best sequels I've seen. Of anything- movies, books, games, whatever. I really think the storyline behind these two games puts them pretty close to being considered legitimate, interactive literature.

So yeah, it's pretty awesome. As the other poster said, save up; it's totally worth it.
