AaaaaRRRGH!! Godammit...I fucking HATE the decadent rich people in America.I hate even more are the fools that ape them..All the fucking nimby pieces of shit,in debt to thier eyeballs , selfish dickheads with thier little leauges and REliGious Faith Based BULLSHIT....They are fucking comfy and so they get to be oblivious .The weakest suffer and starve just so the rich can prosper even MORE..the rich get wealth exploiting pain and misery..There is something really perverse about this.


Add the fact that most duped Americans think it's GHASTLY idea to cap a CEO's wages,limit the size of thier golden parachutes and huge bennies packages that they vote for themselves to get,and force them to share... but these same moderate fools that would balk at limiting wealth see no problem cutting benifiets for the disabled or food stamps to people who can't survive with out them..all I can say is WTF is Wrong with people???!!!

I guess this is the pain of financial opression and unlike too many stupid people I got the guts to say what opresses me, it's socially sanctioned INEQUALITY and wealth hoarding by the few...I admit i fantasize about the Bush admin assholes having to have to choose between food or medicine ...watch them squirm..Make them go crazy filling out a billion papers,that get lost,get late,get confused and come away with nothing but more desperate..
I would love to see them break down under stress and lose it.I would laugh in thier quivering faces and tell them to go fill out more forms.

What if they had to live on SSI for the rest of thier lives would they care all of a sudden than?...

My dad has a good theory on why the middle class keeps wearing the blinders, the haves have convinced these sheep that if they work hard enough, they too can live the "American Dream".

I too am sick at the idea of vapid heiresses like Paris Hilton who don't have to work a day yet can blow more money in one shopping trip than I'll have in my lifetime. I detest the idea of fat-cat politicians who vote themselves exhorbitant pay raises in the same session as they cut benefits to disabled people.

I work two full-time jobs, scrimp and pinch to pay my bills and drive a '97 Saturn that I'm still making payments on. If I ever save the money (and have the time) to go go grad school I might be able to get a single job that pays enough for me to live on.

There are people who spend money left and right. They have multi-million dollar mansions, a car for every day of the week, enough clothes that they don't need to wear the same outfit more than once a month and more jewelry than Tiffany's. What they waste on their indulgences could feed a third-world village for a year.

If I could have that sort of money I'd put it to some beneficial sort of use--but of course I don't. I have to be satisfied with doling out the chump change I'm able to give.

You speak for sooooo many of us. You speak for me. I'm just livid about the living conditions for the underclass/poor/disabled/aging and/or struggling families in this country.

My mood is at a murderous level. I'm that furious. I've also lost about 90% of any respect I ever had for the LAW, as it is legislated today. If one is so poor, can't find a decent job, has no credit, can't find shelter--they are likely to resort to unlawful activities and all those shiny new penitentiaries are just waiting to "house them", able bodied AND disabled. I can barelykeep a civil tongue in my mouth.

I know what you mean about envy and all that. I was taught not to envy and to be happy with what I have.:spray: That was total bullshit then, it's bullshit now; I completely reject that notion today!

I was also taught that ALL work is honorable. I still believe that but the greed monsters aren't into honest work, they are into WEALTH gathering at any cost, status, and greed. At one point in time, a person working in a modest job (janitorial, waitressing, retail etc) was able to afford a place to live and food to eat. Not anymore.

Over the years and with the drumbeat that "greed is good", money/wealth/status has become GOD to Americans. NOTHING else matters. I see this society being turned back to the gilded age of robber barons and "every man for himself". Gone/leaving are any advances we've made in terms of human decency for the weakest among us.

I too find myself wishing the worst trauma on those who Lord it over us; I don't worry about that sentiment either. Even in Christian theology there is a phrase that applies: Righteous Indignation.
Our grief, anger, frustration, and suffering have caused this sentiment and our resulting indignation IS THE KARMA...for them.

The middle class are living in a "Fools Paradise" if they think they will EVER reach the pinnacles of aristocracy/super wealth in this society; our "system" is rigged against them..it always was. Only a handful of particularly creative, inventive, ruthless, ever make it that far.

As for the rest of us who suffer poverty, disability, old age etc. we are extra baggage to them. Our lives are not worth the air we breath--even though we may be supporting not just ourselves but others who may have a chance at a better life. Our health, shelter, and well being means NOTHING to them--even though many of us are the 'generous ones' who work the soup kitchens and take in lost souls. The power elite LIE to the public about how we got where we're at. They are in denial about how much it takes to sustain life and enjoy a bit of happiness down here. The rich don't care, the middle class are in la la land about these issues. "It won't happen to me".....like in a child's mind completely out of touch with reality.

Not only are we being molested financially and medically, we are being treated like animals that can survive living in "kennels".

THERE IS A HOUSING CRISIS. It's not just for the working class, it's also for the disabled and elderly!!

How many communities out there are integrating accessible housing for those who rent and have disabilities AND HAVE WHOLE FAMILIES?

I went to look at one of those new redevelopment agency "projects" nearby. It's gorgeous on the outside--at first glance. Upon closer examination, we discover all the units are TWO STORIES. Some of the "driveways" to a cramped garage were just three feet long (???) If you drive your vehilce up to the dwelling, there's no place to unload a wheelchair. Also,like in our case, the vehicle in the driveway prohibits entry into the garage for those wanting to drive their wheelchairs into it. There was no off driveway parking.

The inner floor plans were extremely cramped. There are NO full bathrooms or any bedrooms on the ground floor. The entrances are NOT accessible for those using assistive devices. I found THREE units in this "project" that were on level ground that claimed to be societies answer to FAMILIES with disabilities. They were CRAMPED (small) with one bathroom that wasn't big enough. Small unadapted kitchens, tiny little living room spaces with only two bedrooms--I guess disabled folk aren't suppose to have GUESTS over for get togethers or have more than one child??????!!!! Additionally, they are building some of these units FOR SALE to low income buyers. Low income around here is anything less than $60,000. Why would anyone want to pay that kind of money for a dwelling that wasn't accessible or roomy enough to turn around in???????? :grr:

A new concept in construction today (for those who can buy new homes), in order to comply with the aging population and those with disabilities, is called "VISITABILITY" construction. At least one entrance has to have a flush threshold at least 36" wide. One bathroom that will accomodate a wheelchair user, and the hallways and inner doorways have to be at least 36" wide. The idea for this is that FINALLY, someone got a clue and figured out that PEOPLE DO AGE and DO become physically disabled. Constructing a new home this way prevents owners from having to tear down walls and pony up big bucks to remodel their homes WHEN THEY DO AGE OR BECOME DISABLED or have family or friends that need these accomodations upon visiting.

Hmmm, now WHY didn't the builders of these beauiful new "Projects" show some foresight like that?????? These low income projects, ONCE AGAIN, goes blind and dumb in terms of building dwellings for DISABLED people or family members and guests etc... WE DON'T EXIST!

I was just reading about this locally. Projections are for SEVERE shortages of "affordable housing" by 2010. MOST of the projections are for poor, single-parent families (mostly female heads of household) and for older adults without children (read: elderly). As for the disabled, there are ADA laws that are supposed to be followed in new construction of commercial dwellings and in rental units to accommodate them. In existing residential facilities, disabled persons can insist upon modifications to accommodate their disabilities, but it's at THEIR expense!

My S.O. worked for years on accessibility issues in this town. He worked with new construction and remodels to ensure buildings were handicapped accessible.

He worked with various groups/committees and task forces for the elderly and handicapped; most recently on issues related to transportation.

Our town is largely liberal; it's a university town. STILL, the planning commission and others completely forget that disabled people's needs are largely ignored...HOUSING in this case.

For those who do own their own homes or have inherited one, GOOD ON YA. However, and unfortunately there are untold numbers of disabled persons who HAVE TO RENT. If I were a single person, a simple apt would do. I have a large family and friends and dreams and hobbies..I need larger accomodations. Friends of ours have children with one disabled parent who have to live in one dinky little trailer. NO room for guests or family meals at holidays ... NOTHING extra. Some places won't even allow pets!

The whole ADA law is being tossed to the curb.

PS: :evilgrin: S.O. just told me I should take my original rant on this and send it to the city planning commission...what a waste of money not to include eventualities like disability in families who occupy those developments. I believe I will send my rant out forthwith.

I have contractor friends and they demonstrated to me why I would NEVER want buy a new house,They showed me how you can punch through the walls of these houses with your fist or a hammer.The vinyl siding cracks and the drywall inside dents out ward. That is how flimsy they are.

They are often built on questionable quality land and the topsoil is not topsoil anymore, it's often clay because they move the earth around to make berms and other bullshit"landscaping".Gardens don't grow well in the poor dirt and new developments wreck all the trees so there is nothing to enrich the soil..however GRASS as in LAWN loves it once it's drenched in pesticides and chemicals...

He lived in the mountainous regions of Calif here. But, like you say, PERMITS PERMITS PERMITS and all sorts of other bull pucky stood in the way. My brother n law had it all mapped out... it looked like a really cool idea. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter, solar power..the whole nine yards.

I have seen alternative dwellings on this order when watching one of those "adventure" channels. A few people around the country somehow managed to accomplish what you're talking about. I believe there is an "Earth House" located someplace in the mountains right here in my own community. I may have seen that one over one of these travel/adventure channels as well. I didn't know it was up there.

I live on the Monterey Bay in Calif. Santa Cruz to be exact. It is BEAUTIFUL here; coastal mountains with thick forest on one side, the sea on the other. We are nicly tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the big city...except for the summer time when the tourists come flooding into town.

This is a university town which is extremely concious of the green agenda. We have a "green belt" law in place here. It's all very beautiful. HOWEVER, I ask my self: Where did all these new dwellings come from? I thought this area was about ZERO growth?! All of a sudden every empty lot is being CROWDED with these ticky tacky two story mini developments. My guess is that the city planners were paid off because the temptation was just too great. What with all the six figure earning folks streaming over the mountain from Silicon Valley to pay any price to live here!!

My complaint is: if the city is going to turncoat and allow development, WHY IN GOD'S NAME didn't they provide for the disabled and poorer members of this community while they were at it?!! Even buying up falling down older homes and remodeling them to accomodate those who need shelter would be a grand idea. There are old buildings standing empty that could be used for shelter.

The city DID spend the funds to build and open a beautiful homeless shelter with all sorts of amenities to help those who want it. But the rest of us with special needs have largely been ignored. UNLESS of course one wants to live in those little warehouse neo-nursing facilites. Cracker boxes, cubicles called 'apts'. I think those accomodations are fine for some folk, but not nearly the answer to WHOLE FAMILIES with physically disabled members.

I NEED space. I cannot handle living right on top of each other like we are coping with now. You cram a bunch of people into a boxcare like dwelling and they are going to be very irritable and go nearly insane. It's unnatural.

I LOVE to garden. I crave sunshine and the out of doors. I grow all sorts of plants when I have the space. I started growing veggies (in raised containers) since the cost of food has blasted through the stratosphere. I want a pet. I am a crafter, a maker of of "things". I used to participate in our craft faires. Today, I can't even find the room to put up an ironing board much less dig out my materials to practice my hobbies--all of my gear is in storage. Each of us needs a private space...ain't got that here nor do I find it in any of the low income dwellings I looked at. Again, if I were alone, a small space would be fine because I would be the only one occupying it.
I've stayed in motels/Inns that have more room for disabled guests than some of these "accessible homes" do. It's ridiculous.

So, for me, I'm not talking about sprawling suburbia in general. I'm merely talking about adequate, sensible, modified shelter for people with special needs who cannot afford to even RENT in mainstream "Suburbia" anyway.

Like I said in one of my previous posts...there is a new construction idea that has come into it's time: "Visitability" construction for new builds. It's a start and waaaaaaaaay overdue.

The provision that allows anyone to opt out is that accomodations DON'T have to be made if it would impose a 'financial hardship'. And the right wing is making sure that companies know about this clause, and use it.

I see all of the older houses being torn down and all of the decandent homes go up day by day.
I see the wealthy move in and elaborately decorate their new homes.
People driving around in their very wealthy cars and gas-sucker SUV's incessantly talking on their cell phones and ignoring everyone else.

I wonder, where in the world do they get all of that money???
They just selfishly hang very tight to their ill-gotten gain with their "Fuck You I've Got MINE!" attitudes.

I then look and see a panhandler on a street corner, all the wealthy just pass by.

Depressed :cry: my self esteem is shot because I look down at the dashboard of my 20 year old car and it is torn up, seats are torn and there is no ceiling (all metal, picking up the heat of the sun) and I can hear the sound of the rotation of the tires because the front end is going out,
and we have no money to fix it.
I live off of a disability check every month which doesn't even cover the rent, and my fiance has a low-paying job and is doing all that he can.
His car is broken down, we only have one barely working car.
I also have a 15 year old daughter whom I get no child support for. We are living from hand to mouth.
New clothes? What the hell is that? We have to buy all second-hand.
And Doctor bills, I can't even go there right now......

I will write more later on this.......but I agree. I wish I wasn't legally obligated to stay in this country, because if you are poor here there seems to be no way out unless you win the lottery or something and yeah, good luck on that one.:cry::cry::cry:
