1. Just got my letter from SS
I just got my letter today saying a check was on the way and that I don't have to do anything. It will come by the end of May. Yay!:)

2. The last paragraph on letter got me...
The law requires the Department of Treasury to offset these one-time payments to collect delinquent child support and debts owed to state and federal agencies

Same as last "stimulus payment" was..

Because I have no money and survive off mere SSDI they will take this $250 and apply it to a $15k student loan I can never pay back because my transcripts are being held hostage until out of default (which will never happen) since I cannot continue my education.

Well, at least now this debtor's prison seems more real now that I'm bunched with deadbeat dads...

:grr:

3. "debts owed to state and federal agencies"
I am so sorry this includes your student loan; that really sucks. :-(

4. Forgiven loan
My loan was forgiven once they realized I could never pay it back. I filled out a form and had my doctor sign it and 3 years later the student loan was forgiven. It is possible to have it go away. If something ever changed I would gladly start paying again. I do think I paid back all the money I borrowed but you know how interest is.
