Textile plant victim of Iraq war

CBC News

"The last 20 mill workers at Nova Scotia Textiles have been laid off, the latest casualties of ongoing fighting overseas that has created a huge demand for special fabric.

The factory has been a landmark in Windsor for years. Since 1916, it has produced everything from underwear to fire coats.

Now the machines are quiet.

"Dupont has to provide fibre and yarns, and therefore fabric, to the United States military before other commercial uses," he said.

What does this mean? If Dupont cannot keep up with production - how do they choose who to cut sending product to?

1. Okay - this is what I get, intellectual property rights allow Dupont
to choose who to be "scarce to". Will be the same with computers and nanotechnology. These things could be used as soft power. If the Dems were in control of how the trade agreements were made. If left in the hands of the Repukes - they will use it to bully and get American Corporate hegemony.

And that scares moi!
