Any of you guys ever hear of freecycle
It's pretty cool! We Americans have a lot of stuff, most of which we don't really use. A lot of it sits around and takes up space.

Rather than throw it away and have it end up in a landfill there is now a website and e mail list that will help you give your unwanted stuff to others for free. It's called freecycle.com. The way it works is that you have stuff to OFFER and there is always someone out there who wants your stuff.

I have given away approx. 15 bags of clothes I haven't worn in many a year. I take care of my clothes and they are all name brand so I had no problem finding a home for them.

Check them out, there may be a freecylce group near you!

1. I just joined last week!
So far I've only given away a breadmaker to a woman who was gluten intolerant (she was going to make "alternative" breads in it). I've tried to get some fence panels, since my were crushed by a fallen tree in recent hurricanes, but I keep missing out! Oh well, more will come.I've got lots more to give away, it's just a matter of seeing what all is around.

BTW-the site I visited was www.freecycle.org

8. Damn Yahoo
Does anyone else have trouble with Yahoo? I tried to join the freecycle group and got "Unable to process request at this time -- error 999." Same error I got a couple of months ago when I tried to join a Dem group. I don't know if it's on my side or theirs.

2. Yes, I've given a lot of stuff away via FreeCycle lately...
Due to the stress leading up to the election, I decluttered to relieve the tension. I gave away 3 printers, 1 scanner, 1 old movie projector, 10 3-ring binders, a cell phone car plug-in.

5. Freecycle rules!
I've been part of my local group (St. Louis - 9th largest Freecycle group in the world!) for several months now. Who wouldn't love a site that helps you de-clutter/keep stuff out of landfills AND get pre-owned items for free instead of feeding the corporate monster?
I've given away stuff as "big" as a car stereo and small as a bag of yarn, and I've received things as small as one book and as large as a futon frame. Freecycle is one of the best uses of the internets I've ever seen.

6. Just got my mom to sign up with Freecycle
she work with a missionary group that collects unwanted stuff for international students, so it fits perfectly into her volunteer activities.

My single sister is also pregnant, and I'm sure she'll find most of what she needs on Freecycle. It's excellent for finding children's products!

7. I love it. I signed up a few months ago.
We had a cool old vanity out in the garage for two years. I bought it at a garage sale for $40, and was going to refinish it for our guest room.

Well, when we bought this place, the guest room was too small. So it sat and sat.

I gave it to a lady recently who had just gotten custody of her granddaughter, and really wanted to make her a pretty bedroom. They were thrilled to have it.

I'm looking for some large stones now to put on the berm by our pond. Nothing yet, but I keep hoping!
