I just found some old money

I looked in two unclaimed property databases and I couldn't believe my eyes. I had unclaimed property dating back to an address that I lived at last in 1973. Check it out. Instead of spending money for Christmas, maybe you can get some.

There are links there for other states that you may have lived or done business in. The second website is a cooperative effort to restore unclaimed money in a number of states. Be sure to check out any deceased relatives whose estate you may have a claim to.

Do they require a "finder's fee" to restore the money to it's rightful owner?

I found almost three hundred dollars waiting for one family member, confirmed by very surprised family member! On my way to look for more.

and father had some money available from Chock Full O'Nuts stock. I contacted the Florida state office by their 800 number and received a long form to fill out. Regrettably, I do not have their death certificates (one passed in 1988 and one in 1991), so I was unable to fulfill the requirement for proof of death, unless, of course, I hired an attorney.

I pressed forward with the request, but then got sidetracked. Then, I found out that the whole amount is only $24.00. Guess they'll ride on that list for eternity.

Unclaimed money in Florida goes to an educational fund. I'm satisfied that I should let sleeping (or dead) dogs lie.
