Saw Bob Dylan for the first time tonight
For the record:

It was fun and interesting. He's 65, and his voice isn't what
it used to be, and it was never Roger Daltrey to begin with.

Fortunately, he didn't try to be more or better than he now is,
and he came across just fine. His band was surprisingly
unpolished, almost as if he was trying to give the impression
of a club jam session rather than a styled concert.

Dylan is know for doing his songs in new versions a lot, and
he didn't disappoint here. Some version were such
departures from the original recordings, I only recognized
them by the lyrics.

One thing that really impressed me was that two of his
classics were done as tributes to others that have done
famous versions of them. His "Highway 61" was almost
identical to that of Johnny Winter, and "All Along the
Watchtower" was very reminiscent of the Jimi Hendrix
version, although the guitar player, who was from Austin,
Texas, was out of his depth trying to come even close to
the haunting guitar work of Hendrix.

Some would have been happy about one thing: When
he did "Like A Rolling Stone," it was the one song of his
that most resembled his original, even if he didn't even
attempt to hit the high notes he no longer can.

Other songs I recognized (he did a lot of new stuff I didn't
know) were: "Just Like a Woman," "It's Alright, Ma," and
"Don't Think Twice, It's Alright."

He still blows that harmonica.......
