I have to admit, fellow Edwardians, that earlier today I was considering throwing in with Barack Obama, because Hillary Clinton is far more important to me than nominating John Edwards is. I may still reach that point down the road, but a couple of things turned me around tonight. The first thing was seeing Keith Olbermann's interview with John Edwards. I was simply amazed at John's ability to reframe every question thrown at him by Olbermann to great advantage. I saw genius at work there. If anyone can defy the conventional wisdom that says someone in John's position had to win in Iowa, it is this man.
The other thing that convinced me to stay on board was the fact that today looks like it will be a record-setting fundraising day for Edwards. This was the sign from the country that I was hoping for after last night. John did something a bit unusual last night. Instead of giving a concession speech after the caucus, he went through a good part of his stump speech. I thought this a bit odd at the time, but I realized today why it was necessary. While most of us Edwards supporters have heard this a dozen times or more, most of the people in the country have not, because of the ongoing corporate media blackout.
After the caucus, John finally had a nationwide audience for his powerful message, and he used that platform to his full advantage. Once again, I see genius at work here.
I just donated fifty dollars to the campaign. I had to use a credit card because I can't really afford it. But I think it's really important that we show the country that the momentum of this campaign is on the rise after John's strong showing in Iowa.
We beat the Hillary juggernaut! Now let's show the country that our movement is growing into a tidal wave of change. Donate tonight!
