What is this crap with all these OP's suddenly saying they are
not voting for Edwards? They are voting for Obama? Are they trolls or what?

1. That was my first explanation.
I haven't gone back to count them, but it felt particularly strange seeing the ones started after the debate. My sample is small, but they seemed heavy on the Clinton-must-be-stopped so they are going to Obama.

6. I think they've bought into the bullshit that Edwards staying in the race hurts Obama.
Frankly, I think Obama AND Clinton staying in the race hurts all of us, but that's just me.

3. I'm confused too.
Here's a thought, though. I may be off base, but I wonder if some of those people think that they :should: vote for Obama over Edwards (even if they like Edwards better) because of some warped sense of racism/sexism guilt. Like, "Well, I do think Edwards is the best, but I don't want to be seen as racist, so I'll vote for Obama. That will cancel out my sexist guilt over not voting for Clinton."

Look at the CNN focus group thing last night. The majority of them thought Edwards won the debate, but decided to vote for Obama because "he can win." WTF?

Maybe I'm an oddity (along with a lot of you), in that I want the person who is BEST for the job. If I thought Clinton was, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat; same for Obama. I am not going to vote for Clinton because she's a woman and so am I; and I am not going to vote for Obama just because he's black, and blacks have been kicked all over the place by whites. I think that's lame, and it's a cop out on not really considering all three candidates on their merits.

5. I agree SG.I am getting really , really sick of the race and gender arguments and even sicker
of those just looking to back a media created "winner"'. It just makes me furious. For many reasons I do not care for the two front runner and my issues with either of them have nothing to do with race or gender, other than the fact they introduce race and gender into every argument. BTW, I thought Baracks constant "jokes' about John being the "white male' were in poor taste.Ironic, since when Elizabeth mentioned that as "awhite male" John wasn't getting coverage the Hillbots and Obamaites went nuts. I am thinking of going to a Hillary appearance tonight just to listen.I will NEVER stop supporting John but I want to hear what she says about this debate.

8. saracat, if you go, let us know what you thought of what Hilary had
to say. I am interested too.

And you know, I think it's the M$M that originally brought up the race/gender thing, and Clinton and Obama bought into it, which is a shame. They should have put the kibosh on that right out of the gate. Even though they are not my favorite candidates, I do think it's great that the Democratic party is diverse enough to have them in the top 3, which is even more of a reason why they should just tell the M$M to shut up about race/gender.

7. The John Edwards has no chance meme.
I guess the dumbasses are too freakin' stupid to realize that he'd have a chance if they voted for him.

10. They also align him with Kucinich, which is totally unfair.Kucinich, for many reasons
could never win.he marginalized himself and has an unfortunate personality and look.JohnOTOH is really being locked out by the media because he could WIN!

11. You're absolutely right. I love how Barillary Clintbama supporters fight back and forth
about how the MSM is pushing one over the other. My view is our corporate masters would take either one as the nominee - they get six with one, a half-dozen with the other. With the coverage of the back and forth bickering, the MSM is just throwing red meat to the dopes.

They've been trying to squeeze John Edwards out since the beginning of the race. Do you remember when the campaign announced that Elizabeth's cancer had returned and BEFORE John and Elizabeth made their statement, the MSM announced that John was dropping out? When he didn't drop out, they beat him up for it.

By the way, I love "unfortunate personality" as a description for DK, it sums him up perfectly.

4. I think so...
Otherwise it's rather strange to have an OP read, "I've decided NOT to vote for X" rather than "I'm voting for X."

And they cleverly don't blatantly throw out big pieces of trash, just a little crumb for someone on their tag team to pick up and roll with. lol

Sadly, I've been at DU so much lately (it's addictive, isn't it?) that I've FINALLY gotten a pretty good feel for the instigators.

All in all, I can honestly say we Edwards supporters have held our head high and focused on the positives of our candidate rather than trashing other candidates. It's emotional, especially since we've been told for months how irrelevant we all are, but we've done well. And I think it's a reflection of JRE and Elizabeth. I know I want to represent him and his message with as much integrity as possible.

I do feel rather invisible though, as after an interaction or two, "they" don't get into a discussion with me. LOL. I can hear them now, "Oh, it's HER. The 'gut instinct' poster who respects others' opinions. She's no fun."
