Some of what was being discussed is somewhat my "area," so I tried to help. So far, there's been a lot of inaccurate BS posted, IMO. Thank you for posting what you did. It needed to be addressed.

It is unbelieveable to me that this many years since the second wave of feminism started, and we're still fighting words of hate among so-called "progressives".

But the scary nature of this current era is the "subtlety" . it is just "accepted' opely as well as "promoted. And you are correct, I have seen similar posts regarding poverty.

My post however was just dealing with the sexism issue as DU had exploded in sexism over the Chelsea incident. Reading those posts and then hearing Bill Maher alerted me to just how alike DU and Maher's thinking was.

My point about poverty is that it's the same process... denigrate those perceived as lower than you.

If this is the "progressive" way, then the mighty have indeed fallen.

ps... one of the people here who fought this righteously, Katherine, finally gave up in disgust from the lack of support she received. I miss her.

DU has been especially toxic lately, and it's hard sometimes to get a rational discussion going. I've logged out several times over the past few weeks, with the idea of not returning, but here I am. When it gets ugly out there, hang out here here in the Edwards supporters group. We've got your back.:grouphug:

And I agree with you. But really, Bill Maher is a mysogynist ass. I stopped watching his show a while ago because of his obvious disdain for women.

but his misogynist side has always bothered me. However that remark caught me off guard. And it was so "accepted" by everyone.He just breezed right by with it. I realized that it was even worse here on DU and some posters proved me right even in the thread itself.The lack of education in this nation is appalling.And it seems that is what feeds this bigotry and sexism.

Very few here inspire me anymore, however, you continue to do so daily.
Take a deep breath...step away for a few days if you must.
Personally, I think that there was some secret group freeper project and they took control.
The things that I have seen here lately make me cringe and are in no way progressive.
