Does anyone else find shrubbie's attendance at King's funeral
completly inappropriate?

I know he's the president, but does a person like him have any place at the funeral of an outstanding human being like Mrs. King?

1. I've been emailing my family and friends all day
About how inappropiate I think it is. Some of them say that we would complain if he didn't show up, but I completely disagree. He didn't show up to Rosa's funeral and NO ONE missed him.

2. I'd have been upset if he hadn't attended,
especially after last year's gop civil rights calendar. Besides, the history and tributes were educational, good for him.

4. I am glad he went
I didn't see it as a big deal. Who I thought should have been there was his mama. Her absence was noticeable.

Pres. Ford was in frail health. Had he been able to travel, I bet he and Betty would have been there.

5. What was priceless was the dumbfounded look on * face when President
Clinton and Senator Clinton entered the stage to a thunderous, extended, standing and robust applause! :applause: :applause:

Mrs. King is an icon and it was appropriate that all the living presidents attended.

13. It was good of him to see the reception of the Clintons.
You are right. As the pResident, he should have been there. Everytime I saw his little smug head on tv, I just want to... SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!

7. Honestly? I wasn't happy that he was there--
I just didn't think his presence was required, even though it is appropriate for the so called 'commander in chief' to be present for something of that magnitude.

As bitter as I was about it, I was suddenly made happy he was there. Why? Because of the comments that made him obviously uncomfortable. Evil of me, I know, but I am being honest.

8. The living presidents should've been there
Granted I would've rather seen someone who didn't steal a couple of elections there but his absence would've been a bigger insult than his presence.

9. True--
because many had words about his not being at Rosa Park's funeral. So imagine if he had not made an appearance at Mrs. King's...

15. I'm glad he had to sit there and be insulted

The problem is that he doesn't really care so it was water off of his back.
