For those that missed this...

...this isn't about tooting my own horn, etc. But, I do believe in sharing that which is interesting. I know several members here have taken beatings on the main forum regarding this issue--so it seems appropriate to share this with you. I found this to be an interesting experiment in "turnabout", so to speak.

Note the responses of those that find my piece "bigoted" or "racist."
Any of them look familiar? ;)

:hi:

3. Sorry I missed the fun
and that was excellent!

The same BS class issues and "it wasn't me" and "I'm not rich" and the like. The same BS arguments from quite a few of the same faces--and some new ones. If they'd read some of the posts in the "black history that doesn't make the history books" thread, they'd see that it is ALL about race. "Class" is the smoke screen so white people don't feel left out. Malcolm X was right.

I'd like to know how any of the delusional fools could vote for a black man for president when most don't like the idea of having more than 5 black neighbors or affirmative action in hiring or education or going out with anyone black (read any general on-line personals website) or having black family members (the gods forbid! )

From a post--Everyone's Irish on St. Patrick's Day, but no one wants to be black during Black History Month.

4. Excellent post!
The replies showcase the best and the worst of DU. Some of the replies were very insightful, and then there was the sound of heads exploding. Either some people don't read so well or you hit a nerve Bliss, cause I thought your post was right to the point.

the U of I thread was interesting, most American Indian mascot debates go that route. I'm very impressed with a lot of the dialogue in that thread, in particular fishwax, and scarletwoman, as well as a good handful of others...its very interesting reading, and as a side note, there is a team in SD that is called the Fighting Whiteys...I believe, an indian team on a rez, called themselves the Fighting Whiteys and a lot of the townsfolk were up in arms....I'll try to find a link to that, I think it happened in 03, or 02...

7. Funny how some can go on and not be tombstoned for their responses.

Perhaps not enough "alerts" were hit on certain posters, thereby suggesting that much of DU online and reading at the time were ok with what was said by them. How sad.

Just saying.
