Racist Robots? Judge for yourself:
In case you hadn't seen the movie, here's a clip of the "minstrelbots" from You Tube. It even includes the one robot getting his gold tooth knocked out.

3. But you know what's really pitiful?
People love black folks (not actual black people but you know -- the CONCEPT of black people) so much that they'll probably be the most popular robots in the whole damn movie.

I think I developed cataracts watching that clip 'cause I could not see a DAMN thing going on but from what I can hear there is no question, no doubt that those robots are imitating two homeboys. "He got ate up." Yeah, okay.

7. It is difficult to see. Here's a close up and a second video that is a little clearer.

4. The videos not working for me. Hearing them described was enough.
#23 and I asked the same question: Why does a robot need a gold tooth?

The current crop of animators for many popular films use many stupid and bigoted cliche characters that all seem to come from the white, male, clueless POV. Toy Story? One female and it's Little Bo Peep? It's epidemic. Pathetic.

Sadly, this issue is one that reaches into animation history. The animation industry is historically "male", hetero and white. You know an industry has issues when support organizations/groups are created, for minority factions working within it's ranks:

http://www.womeninanimation.org/home.html

One young woman was so enraged by what she saw at an animation festival, she created a comic:

Quote:
Angry Little Girls was developed from Kim, the Angry Little Asian Girl, a character she developed in 1994 when she was a sophomore at UC Berkeley. She developed the character after attending Spike and Mike's Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation with a friend. In an interview, she said, "I came out of there, I was really mad. 'I did not enjoy any of those cartoons. They were sexist and racist."

9. Yes, you're right. I would have thought by the time the 21st Century came around
they'd be more aware or at least "PC" or even MARKETING oriented and not have all the action focused on white males.

10. Absolutely agree...
....I guess considering that the white males of the world are still dictating "what's funny" for the rest of us. That's usually the chicks, jews, brown, yellow and red people, large folks, the disabled and of course, glbt.

The truly interesting thing is that more often than not, usually some of the previously mentioned factions are employed in animation (as writers, segment producers, voice actors, artists, etc.) enabling the machine to utilize the tasteless as "funny."

5. I bought my son the first Transformers movie on dvd...
...he was watching it a couple days ago, and as I walked through the living room, I caught a scene with Anthony Anderson in it. I'd forgotten he was even in the movie. It was HORRIBLE - he was clownin' and falling all over the place and mewling... (ugh!)

...so whatever nonsense they put in there with the homiebots, I'm not at all surprised. I just wish I'd paid more attention (did I take him to see this at the movies? Did I block it from my memory???) so I wouldn't have wasted my money.

11. **SemiCharmed you were right**
Just came from the movie. (Hubby wanted to see it.)

That was the biggest load of hot garbage I've seen in I don't know how long. It SUCKED.

And as bad as The Twins were, they were NOTHING compared to the constant T&A being displayed in that movie. There was not a single female character in that movie that didn't have half her @ss hanging out. And considering the girls didn't hardly have any @ss to begin with, you can imagine the amount of effort that went into having what little @sses they had hanging all over the place. It was pathetic.

The Twins were the only "good guys" in the movie that I actually was thinking I wouldn't mind too much if they died. They were THAT annoying. But not even funny annoying. Just "shut up and die already" annoying. All they did was get in everybody else's way. Total waste of time and effort. And I bet they got paid more money than I'll see in 30 years to do that mess too.
