1. Thanks for the love, guys! I really appreciate it.
The Race/Equality forum is so dead I was worried that no one would ever see that post! I'm trying to get that forum a bit more active.

Though I truly cannot understand how the Race forum could be so dead on a web site with so many racially clueless/insensitive people around here.

2. I gave a kick and a congrats!
But maybe it's good that race is being discussed "out in the open" rather than in a dungeon. :)

3. lol Yeah, I know. As I was typing "why is the R/E forum here so dead
when there are so many racially clueless/insensitive assholes here?" I already knew I was answering my own question. :)

That place definitely is a dungeon. And to be honest, based on the importance of race in our society and the level of stupidity here, it really should be one the most happening forums on DU.

5. Thanks, vab!
Saw your comment about a black Labour Party Parliament leader. I heard on the news here that one of the reasons that many Brits haven't taken too kindly to Gordon Brown is because he's not "one of them" read: he's Scottish, not British. Keeping that in mind, I don't have very high hopes that there will be any high ranking black officials for while, though I'm trying to not get too discouraged. My understanding is that there will be a special election either this year or next to try to get rid of Mr. Brown. UK political system is in turmoil right now; first Blair now Brown.

Here in Australia, the Brits are sending a black woman, Baroness Valerie Amos, to be the British High Commissioner to Australia. Some folks here have lost their damned minds over this, crying about her lack of knowledge about Australia. Here an article on Ms. Amos. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/national/834404/britain-sends-baroness-to-australia
