Lord help us! Even the Beatles get trashed around here for showing Michelle some love!
There is more outrage in this damn place because Paul McCartney dedicated "Michelle" to Michelle Obama than there has EVER been towards the racist fools who compared her to a gorilla!!

Now all of a sudden, he's a no-talent hack who hasn't made a decent song in 49 years and is just trying to get publicity. WTF? Are people here simply incapable of showing our First Family any love about ANYTHING??!

If anyone EVER tells you that liberals cannot be racists, PLEASE be sure to head butt them for me. I can't stand this!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

1. Those liberals aren't REALLY racists
TRUE racists are goose-stepping, confederate-battle-flag-waving, n-word screaming, pot-bellied inbred yahoos that look different and obvious. If you don't fit the above, then you aren't really a racist--kinda like the "class, not race" types. :puke:

3. Exactly!
Is this something that certain white folks tell themselves, like bedtime stories, every night?? That racists "look" a certain way? Live only in certain areas and unless someone calls a black person a N*GGER to their face or has burned a cross in somebody's yard for moving into their neighborhood, they can't possibly be a racist?

Where does this foolishness come from??? This DENIAL. I have HAD it. Post-racialist my ass! If anything, this country is even MORE racially screwed since the man took office.

2. I read the title earlier and just knew that would rile the racists up!
They cannot stand the President or his wife. They are seething with hate for the first family. If you would have asked them about Paul McCartney last week, they would have said he was the greatest!

i'm considering responding to all offensive posts w/angry rap lyrics, regardless of actual content. dunno how that would go over. but i'm thinking about it.

i'm considering responding to all offensive posts w/angry rap lyrics

This one album will MORE than suffice! Pick a song! ANY song! They're ALL angry! :)

Truly, one of the greatest (and angriest, misogynistic and most profane) rap albums EVER. I always waited until my mother was out of the house before I played it. If she'd ever caught me playing this or even knew that I OWNED it she would have coordinated a neighborhood bonfire and burned it to bits. After she whupped my butt, of course.

...that was the album i played when i wanted to frighten (non-ethnic people) that pissed me off during college. well, that and public enemy.

the noises pe utilized for their mixes seemed designed to irritate (or frighten) non-ethnic folk. though these days, they dig public enemy as much as us. back in the day, you could do a little damage with public enemy (sigh).

i watched some clips on youtube.com, earlier. there were just as many white boys in the front of public enemy's show, as black and latino. :spray:

don't get me started on how i had to hide dh's copy of nwa. he used to drive around blaring f*** tha' police. :scared: not a good idea for anyone of any race in so cal. officers do NOT like nwa or ice tea (cop killer) here.

p.s. i dare you to post that pic in response to offensive posts.

15. Once corporations decided they could make money off rap
we got a whole lot of foolishness popping up on the airwaves.

How else could we have gone from "Don't push me 'cuz I'm close to the edge I'm trying not to lose my head" to "This is why I'm hot"

Seriously I think I heard a song based on some silly sing song game I used to play as a kid. And my sister wonders why I refuse to listen to the radio these days.

it's such a shame. :( i stopped watching BET many, many years ago. i haven't listened to radio in years (unless it's a classic rock, pop, r&b, etc. station).

whenever i search for the classic stuff on youtube, i find comments by younger people that seem to love what i grew up listening to. i'm often surprised by how positive their comments are about our music.

many comments frequently complain that the current releases are crappy, and not as good as what we grew up with (their parents). if they don't like it--who's buying it? or i guess maybe they buy it anyway, for lack of choices.

Do you remember that Caribbean girl that used to come on there?? Raaay-challl. She was supposed to be black but she actually looked more Indian than black (she was probably from the West Indies which has a surprisingly large number of Indians).

When they hired her, I knew BET was going to go downhill FAST. That heffa spent more time in a damn bikini than the Ms. Hawaiian Tropic contestants.

I will NEVER, ever, EVER forget the interview Raaaay-chall did with Mary J. Blige. Mary just sat and looked at her like she was the dumbest ***** she'd ever seen.

mj's passing was the first time i watched bet in about 20 years. i promptly stopped as soon as they stopped showing his videos.

i saw donnie simpson once (at a restaurant). he cracked me up, as he seemed "perturbed" that no one "recognized" him.

a friend and i had a running thing about bet. where we complained about how terrible and annoying we found it. if i got a call out of the blue, it was almost always my friend calling to tell me about something horrific he'd seen on bet (beggin' me to turn the channel, so i could suffer w/him). :spray:

watch some of the rap threads around here and rap is the only genre where people aren't allowed to point to old school or non-commercial hits to show it is a valid art form.

the year of the "rap song winning." :eyes: though i don't know if there was as big of an outcry when it was eminem.

while i didn't care for the song that won, i jumped in the fray to defend the genre. after one idiot tried to say no one in hip hop even "read music", much less played an actual instrument. that seemed rather blatant, and i lost it. :grr::mad:

but that was back when i still posted in the lounge. some of the old school hip hop lovers (like bigmclargehuge) helped me out . i honestly believe that was my last effort in the lounge. i left after that one, and never returned. it's either sexism or racism in the lounge. why bother?

White folks fought rap for so long and so hard they made it far more prosperous and universal than ever.

The more money started to be made, the more idiots who didn't have a damn thing to say but could make a snappy beat got involved. And messages of black empowerment were lost amongst the pleas for girls with big asses to "back that thing up."

38. I haven't watched videos in years.
To be honest I don't like most of them. How much artistry is involved in getting a bunch of scantily clad women to shake their barely covered asses and breasts in front of a camera? Not to mention have you ever heard an interview these days? How do they expect to have an interview that says something when they're talking about the release of an album or video that says nothing. And frankly, I don't even want to hear an interview with these pathetic excuses for rappers anyway. They can't string together a sentence, they pepper a paragraph with too many "you know what I'm saying?" I always want to yell at the radio, no motherfucker, I don't know what you're saying because you haven't said anything! It's annoying as hell and frankly adds to the "you speak so well" pseudo-complement that gets thrown out there but I digress.

I don't watch MTV, BET nor VH1 although out of the three I'd probably watch VH1 Classics. They occasionally play those old pop up video shows which I loved but otherwise I have no use for videos at all.

I don't think I'm old enough to come across as this damn crotchety when it comes to music but the music business exists to put out crap and I won't spend money on it.

37. Where did this happen? I'm a little bit confused...
... You do know that there are lots of white folk who thought that Paul McCartney was a no-talent hack who hadn't made a decent song in 38 years back in 2008 before Obama was elected, right? You do know that there are white folk, and often-considered-white-folk such as myself, who considered him a hack, in some cases since childhood... right?

I'm just saying. Dedicating Michelle to Michelle is pretty cool, in my book... but overall I still consider McCartney to be something of a hack who hasn't written much of anything interesting in 39 years.

As long as my Beatle trivia is center stage... you do realize that the song "How Do You Sleep" on Lennon's Imagine album was written about McCartney... specifically about his asshat decision to bundle and sell the rights to all Beatle songs so that the rights could be liquidated... and that Ringo and George Harrison also played on the song... and that a line of the lyrics which is cut from "radio versions" goes something like: "How do you sleep at night, ya cocksucker?"...

The rest of the Beatles had their issues with McCartney too, back in '72, apparently.

But... if you find it more convenient to think that all of us that think McCartney is a hack, think so "just because" he dedicated a song to the lovely Michelle Obama.... and that it isn't a sentiment that goes back practically to the time I was born... well... have fun with that theory. :)...
