Wing commander takes reigns at Warfare Center

The former commander of the 57th Wing at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., won’t be moving far to his next assignment when he takes command of the Air Force Warfare Center Feb. 8 during a scheduled change of command ceremony.

The Center is headquartered at Nellis.

Brig. Gen. Stephen Hoog relinquished command of the 57th Wing last Friday to Col. Russell Handy, who came from Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., where he commanded the 33rd Fighter Wing.

Hoog will take command of the Warfare Center from Maj. Gen. R. Mike Warden, who was selected to become the next vice commander of Air Combat Command.
