Stars and Stripes present: Military gambling overseas

A soldier tries his luck at a slot machine at Striker's bowling alley in Baumholder, Germany. A bill has been introduced in Congress that would eliminate gambling on all military bases overseas, to include slot machines and bingo games in military clubs.

1. I had a feeling this was coming.

They were squawking about this for the last ten years or so--a cadre of asshole holy rollers in the Pentagon. They've gotten some fool to push it forward.

It will go over like a lead balloon. It IS a morale booster, and it pays for a lot of nice-to-have MWR perks, like internet cafes and recreation programs, that might otherwise not garner sufficient funding to be viable.

2. What in the hell is wrong with Congress. They send these people over to risk their lives

and then they want to ban something that might take their mind off of war for a few minutes
