AF aims to make powerful point on sexual assault

RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany — The play started with a warning that some people might find the topic too difficult to watch and may want to leave.

When the show started on Wednesday at the Nightingale Theater, actors performed a scene in which a person finds out that a male friend had sexually assaulted a female friend. He uses a remote control to stop the action and discuss with the audience what he should do about it.

Despite the seriousness of the plot, some attempts at using the vernacular of young airmen fell short, triggering chuckles from the crowd of about 300 people.

But nobody fell asleep or left.
