A female Naval Academy freshman died Monday after being found unconscious in her room.

The student's roommates found her in her bed, not breathing, in the late morning, according to an academy news release.

She was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 12:46 p.m.

The cause of death is under review, and foul play is not suspected, according to the release.

“The Naval Academy is deeply saddened by this sudden and tragic loss," Naval Academy Superintendent Vice Adm. Jeffrey L. Fowler stated in the release. "Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to this midshipman’s family.”
