MINNEAPOLIS - The U.S. Army will speed up the delivery of three more technologies developed under its Future Combat Systems effort, adding to the two already approved for acceleration, said Gen. George W. Casey, the Army chief of staff, on May 23.

The Non-Line Of Sight launch system, Tactical and Urban Unattended Ground Sensors, and first version of the FCS network will be sent to troops earlier than the planned 2011 date, Casey said in an interview. He cited progress in field tests at Fort Bliss, Texas.

"How fast (will they arrive)? We're not sure yet, but by the end of the summer, we'll be much better informed," Casey said. "They're in the hands of soldiers now, and soldiers are testing them and making recommendations. That accelerates the process."

The Micro Air Vehicle and Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle were approved for acceleration last year.
