BAGHDAD — The U.S. military said three American soldiers have been killed in a small-arms fire attack in northern Iraq.

A brief statement from the military said the soldiers died Wednesday in Hawija, about 150 miles north of Baghdad. It says they were assigned to Multi-National Division-North.

The soldiers’ names are being withheld until their families are notified.
