HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah — Hill Air Force Base officials are searching for a missing case of M16 assault rifles.

Base officials said the guns fell off a government truck while it was moving Tuesday.

Recovering the shipping case containing a dozen M16s is the base’s top priority, said Linda Medler, the 75th Air Base Wing commander.

Officials are also asking for the public’s help, urging anyone with information on the missing weapons to contact base security or local law enforcement.

Base officials said witnesses saw a white man in his 40s pick up the case of guns and put it in a subcompact car. They say the man has gray hair and is balding on the top of his head.
