CARLISLE, Pa. — A former Army colonel has been convicted of conspiracy and other charges in Pennsylvania for trying to tamper with a paternity test.

A jury found Wednesday that 53-year-old retired Col. Scott Carlson arranged for a classmate at the Army War College in Carlisle to take the test in his place last year.

Investigators say Carlson and Col. Bruce Adkins hatched the scheme after a Virginia woman who has a 10-year-old daughter with Carlson sought an increase in child support.

Carlson, of Swansea, Ill., claimed that Adkins decided to steal his driver’s license and take the test without Carlson knowing.

Adkins, of Douglasville, Ga., is scheduled for trial later this month.
