KABUL, Afghanistan — An officer has been convicted and four enlisted service members have been charged with having child pornography on their personal computers, a spokesman said Tuesday.
The soldiers are assigned to Task Force Phoenix, which is based here and oversees the U.S. teams that train the Afghan army and police.
“Task Force Phoenix strongly condemns this heinous conduct,” said Lt. Col. Chris Kubik, spokesman for Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.
CSTC-A is the higher headquarters for Task Force Phoenix.
“None of the cases involved the use of government computers or Internet service provided by the United States government,” he said. “However, we monitor very closely the conduct of our service members, and we will continue to pursue and prosecute to the full legal extent possible any criminal acts.”
