GI dies after being hit by vehicle at Lewis

A Fort Lewis, Wash., soldier died Friday from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle incident earlier that day, officials announced in a press release.

Sgt. Clint A. Sikorski, 21, of Rothschild, Wis., was assigned to 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment, 17th Fires Brigade. Shortly before 6 a.m. Oct. 17, Sikorski was trying to stop traffic on 4th Division Drive on post when he was struck by a vehicle driven by another soldier. Sikorski was helping to guide a military vehicle to a nearby small-arms range when the incident occurred.

Emergency response personnel were on the scene within minutes, and Sikorski was taken by ambulance to Madigan Army Medical Center. He died from his injuries about 1:30 p.m. The incident is under investigation.
