NEW BERN, N.C. — More than two dozen Marines in an aircraft refueling squadron are back at their North Carolina base after an eight-month deployment to Afghanistan.

The Sun Journal of New Bern reported that Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 252 came back Sunday on a U.S. Airways flight to Coastal Carolina Regional Airport at New Bern.

The unit is based at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock.

Families and a Marine band greeted the troops.

Sally Young of Havelock waited for her husband David, who has been deployed during half of their 28-year marriage. She said this deployment was the hardest for her.
