Wary feelings about Obama
Wary feelings about Obama
By Brendan McGarry - Staff writer
Posted : Monday Dec 29, 2008 6:02:33 EST

When asked how they feel about President-elect Barack Obama as commander in chief, six out of 10 active-duty service members say they are uncertain or pessimistic, according to a Military Times survey.

In follow-up interviews, respondents expressed concerns about Obama’s lack of military service and experience leading men and women in uniform.

“Being that the Marine Corps can be sent anywhere in the world with the snap of his fingers, nobody has confidence in this guy as commander in chief,” said one lance corporal who asked not to be identified.

For eight years, members of the U.S. military have served under a Republican commander in chief who reflected their generally conservative views and led them to war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Now, the troops face change not only at the very top of the chain of command, as Obama nears his Jan. 20 inauguration, but perhaps in mission, policy and values.

2. Uncertain or pessimistic? Concerns? Lousy story that. Seems like
the writer might have inserted some of his bias in this one. And a lance corporal who shall not be named?

Yes, the troops face change, we all do. Could be change for the better; could their mission get worse?

3. And does this unidentified (re-pug) lance corporal....
believe that being sent to war in Iraq is actually a "good thing"?
And who exactly DID send the Marines off with a snap of his fingers? Duh!
I guess being sent like mindless pawns to illegal, unnecessary invasions is "job security" for these clowns. (talk about voting against your own best interests!)
They're freakin' clueless "sheeple in uniforms" happily marching off to their own demise. :banghead:

5. The Episcopal Church at the corner of Marguerite and Park Street!
The Episcopal church was just recently completely re-modeled. It is quite a bit bigger now and they did a beautiful job.
Rev. West Davis was probably the minister then, if this was years ago. He has since retired.
I work with his son, Craig...we are deckhands on the WSF Ferry, MV Evergreen State.
:hi:
