More Okla. Guardsmen Headed to Iraq

TULSA, Okla. — More Oklahoma soldiers are headed for Iraq.

Fifteen Oklahoma Army National Guard troops assigned to the 145th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment will travel to Fort Dix, N.J., by the end of next week for training before they leave for Iraq, where they are expected to remain until they return home by December.

While in Iraq, the troops will provide media escorts and help members of the press with access for their stories.

Family and friends bid farewell to the troops in a ceremony last Sunday in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma’s adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Harry M. Wyatt III, said the unit has deployed before but will be responsible for a different area.
