Former VA Chief Says Bush Did Right By Vets
Former VA Chief Says Bush Did Right By Vets

Jim Nicholson, the former secretary of veterans affairs who once headed the Republican National Committee, said Friday that he expects President-elect Obama will come to have deep respect for the U.S. military, just as President Bush’s respect for the military grew during his two terms in office.

Nicholson, a U.S. Military Academy graduate and Vietnam veteran who is a close friend and staunch supporter of the outgoing president, spoke in an interview about how he thinks history will judge Bush’s eight years as a time of building a stronger military and improving veterans programs.

“Bush learned a great deal while president, and his admiration and respect for the military grew immensely,” Nicholson said. “That happens to most presidents, and I think the same thing will happen with Obama.”

While Bush’s decision to send U.S. troops into Iraq remains controversial, Nicholson said he thinks history will judge the 43rd president in a less harsh light “as people reflect on the significance of keeping us safe for seven years after we were attacked.”

“You can debate the decision but you cannot debate the results,” he said.

1. Nicholson is one of the worst Secretaries ever.
This POS kept Veterans for being treated for _____. I put the Walter Reed scandal directly at his doorstep.

5. That was actually the Army, not Walter Reed. But he is dumb as a post.
A friend of mine had to brief him on things occasionally and said so.

2. When the former chairman for the republican party says you did
good by the veterans, then maybe, he should talk to the 200,000 vets. who are homeless . Maybe those vet's could clarify why the results of that statement are debatable. Now America has young women and men who believe in the service and safety of this country. So let's not ignore the facts of intelligence that indicate imminent threats, vs those contrived for corporate gain.

Well, I guess that's a closed book then.

There were many parts of this little piece that bugged me, including "Obama will come to have deep respect for the U.S. military, just as President Bush’s respect for the military grew during his two terms in office." What a bunch of crap ola. Like the lying weasel respects anyone aside from maybe his mother, and that's doubtful. Obama "will come to respect". I think his current level of respect is well beyond what the lying weasel's respect level ended up at.

Had to post it, though. I hate being ticked off alone.

6. This SOB committed treason. His treatment of our veterans gave aid and comfort to the enemy. n/t
