SAN DIEGO — San Diego State University is welcoming military veterans with VIP tours and admissions help as part of a mission to brand the university as a leader in attracting those who serve.

A dozen Marines brought to the university last week got the kind of VIP treatment usually reserved for star athlete recruits.

They were told they may have an advantage in some areas of study, such as the new major in international security and conflict resolution.

A top administrator also promised to guide their applications through the admissions and financial-aid process. A campus veterans center is already on campus.

In California, about 28,000 military veterans a year leave active duty, and San Diego State officials want the campus to be a leader in attracting them.

War crimes are sometimes hard to get past, and an ex-marine would clean out a room quicker than you can say Virginia Tech.

This is just what every campus needs, another cadre of highly recruited prima donnas being coddled for thier useless talents (putting a ball into a goal, field stripping a gun blindfolded, killing civilians at close range). One more reason to stay the hell away from the CSU system in California.
