I thought it over and with a combination of the half-ass withdrawl of troops from Iraq/Afghanistan, the failure to indicte these private contracters, fundie-christians gaining in the military making war a religious crusade, and police abusing those who question authority--there is no way I am going back in the USMC!

Yeah, I had it as a last option in case I there was trouble finding a job. But I'd rather be the thorn on the side of authority rather than being a part of it.

That and I don't want to listen to another Lee Greenwood song ever again. LOL

1. Military/Police have a right wing authoritarian tilt.
Though I am aware of the religious zealots in the US that compound the problem.
Why do you have to listen Lee Greenwood in the military? Please tell me it is not mandated!

Admittedly I was dehydrated, exhausted, and half starved, but I like to think part of my vomiting was because of the song.

Semper fi, btw

6. Same here!
Plus I also have to hear it during karaoke nights at Pop-a-Tops in Yuma cause some redneck acts as if he's out of the patriot closet.

BTW I love David Cross' opinion of this song:

3. Good!
You're nicer alive. I commend your decision, which could not have been easy for you.

One of my best friends has been a Marine since his eighteenth birthday - he's forty-seven now - served in Desert Storm, attained the rank of Lt. Col. in the reserves, and recently - he is a born-again Democrat, as liberal as any of us - decided to resign his commission. No, he was in no danger of being called up again, but he just didn't want his body being counted, in case anyone interpreted it to mean that he supported what's going on in the Middle East.

His father was a fighter pilot in Vietnam. My friend works for a company that supplies the military in Afghanistan. He sees another Vietnam............................

10. OK, until an actual country tries to actually invade the USA, then maybe I'll re-enlist.
Until then, FUHGETABOUTIT! lol

I'm sure Full or Total Mobilization won't happen in my lifetime.
