A U.S. service member died overnight in a northern Italian hospital, bringing to six the number killed in the crash of an Army helicopter, U.S. Army Europe announced in a press release Friday.

Eleven U.S. service members, four Army crew and seven airmen, were onboard the UH-60 Army Black Hawk helicopter that went down Thursday near the city of Treviso, 22 miles southwest of Aviano, the statement said.

The helicopter was attached to the 1st Battalion, 214th Aviation Regiment.

According to USAEUR, it was a training flight which also afforded airmen the opportunity to gain a better understanding of joint operations. The service members were also planning to perform a re-enlistment ceremony.

Four bodies were pulled from the wreckage by Italian rescue services and a fifth person died later in the hospital.

The sixth person died Thursday around 10 p.m. local time, an official at Treviso’s hospital said.
