Fort Drum soldier collapses, dies after PT

A 10th Mountain Division soldier died at the Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, N.Y., after collapsing during physical fitness training, the Army announced Monday.

Spc. James J. Weber, 25, a native of Spring Hope, N.C., entered the Army in February 2007, completed basic training at Fort Sill, Okla., and was assigned to Fort Drum in July.

Weber, who died Nov. 20, was assigned to the division special troops battalion and served as a forward observer, the release said.

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

The cause of death is under investigation.
