The military’s active and reserve force recruiters continued on their new fiscal year hot streak in November, with all forces meeting or exceeding 100 percent of goal for the second straight month, the Defense Department announced Monday.
The active components also met or exceeded retention goals in November. The reserve retention numbers, which lag one month, were similarly strong for October.
The Marine Corps led the way on active-side recruiting, signing up 108 percent, or 2,444 recruits, of its goal of 2,263. The Army brought in 101 percent of its goal of 4,750 new troops, signing up 4,783. The Navy and Air Force met their goals of 2,732 and 1,836, respectively.
The Army and Marines also exceeded their monthly retention missions, while the Navy and Air Force met theirs. The Defense Department does not typically provide retention figures.
On the reserve side, Air National Guard recruiters once again led the way, signing up 133 percent, or 735, of their November goal of 551 new recruits. The Army National Guard followed the Air Guard with another strong showing, bringing in 116 percent, or 5,135, of its November goal of 4,423 new troops.
