Airman charged with sexual assault, faces court-martial

RAF MILDENHALL, England — A 100th Air Refueling Wing airman will face a court-martial next year for allegedly sexually assaulting a fellow airman after a night of partying earlier this year.

Airman 1st Class Christopher J. Mahon is charged with sodomy and sexual assault in connection with an incident that occurred in the early morning of April 30 in an on-base dorm room, according to Air Force court records.

The court-martial is slated to take place in March or April.

The alleged victim, who will not be identified according to Stars and Stripes’ policy, testified in an Article 32 hearing in November that he woke up after a night of heavy drinking to find Mahon sexually assaulting him.

An Air Force Office of Special Investigations special agent testified at the Article 32 hearing that the alleged victim had produced five separate statements throughout investigation. All five statements differed to some degree, including in which dorm room the incident occurred, the agent said.
