Airman pleads guilty to indecent act

OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea — An airman pleaded guilty to a sexually indecent act with a fellow airman but denied raping her in a court-martial that began Tuesday at Osan Air Base in South Korea.

Senior Airman Gabriel R. Contreras of Osan’s 51st Munitions Squadron admitted he touched a female airman’s genital area last February while another male airman looked on.

But Contreras pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, conspiracy to commit indecent acts, housebreaking and indecent assault. The other male airman is awaiting trial on charges stemming from the same alleged incident, the prosecution said.

Those alleged offenses occurred in the woman’s dorm room the night of Feb. 10 and into the early hours of Feb. 11, according to testimony.

Contreras, according to the prosecution, engaged in consensual sex with the woman then allegedly bragged about it to a fellow airman and brought that airman to the woman’s room for the possibility of further sexual activity.
