JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — A $25,000 reward has been offered for anyone with information leading to the capture of a corporal accused of murdering a pregnant fellow Marine.

Eyewitness accounts placed Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, 21, in a Shreveport, La., bus depot Saturday night. But Onslow County, N.C., Sheriff Ed Brown said in a press conference Monday that the sightings have not been confirmed.

Laurean has been charged in the first-degree murder of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who was more than eight months pregnant and had accused her alleged killer of rape.

What are believed to be the burned remains of Lauterbach and her unborn child were taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Monday morning.

The charred bones were found in a shallow grave in Laurean’s back yard in a neighborhood off Gum Branch Road, a well-traveled thoroughfare in Jacksonville, late Friday afternoon.
