Guardsmen returning after 4-month deployment

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Members of the Tennessee Air National Guard are returning home from a four-month deployment in Iraq.

Sixty-four members of the 118th Civil Engineering Squadron are scheduled to return to Nashville Friday after completing their tour.

Their duties included improving local facilities used by U.S. and allied forces, maintaining infrastructure and providing emergency services such as fire protection and disposal of explosives.

The squadron, assigned to the 447th Expeditionary Civil Engineers, helped to build a passenger terminal, a recreation center, living quarters and miles of paved roads.

The Tennessee guardsmen also extended a little Southern hospitality by bringing over 70 pounds of barbecue to share with other soldiers and airmen.
