FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — An Army military police officer is accused of using the Internet to solicit a Virginia teenager to have sex.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Liz Scott said 33-year-old David Michael Overstreet was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, awaiting deployment to Iraq when he was arrested Tuesday on charges of electronic solicitation and attempted sodomy.

Scott said a 16-year-old Spotsylvania boy and his mother told police last month that an Army police officer contacted the boy online.

Spotsylvania police got search warrants and seized computers from Overstreet’s home in Prince George’s County, Md.

Scott said Overstreet was being held at an El Paso jail while awaiting an extradition hearing to be transported to Virginia.
