My Two Cents Campaign to Get Gore to Run

An e-mail today from Karen Wunderman of algore.org:

Dear Organizers--
The America for Gore Coalition (of which AlGore.org is a member) is dedicated to making Al Gore the Democratic candidate for President in 2008. At present, we're working to get Gore’s name on as many state primary ballots as possible, and we continue to work to show support for his candidacy.

Time is growing short, and we all need to act NOW to demonstrate our support so that Gore understands how much the country wants him as its next president.

To convince Gore to step into the race, we've launched the "My Two Cents" campaign. We're asking all Gore supporters to mail him two pennies, together with a note indicating that real financial support will be provided if he accepts the challenge and runs for president. We believe that the mountain of pennies his office will receive will be a constant reminder to Mr. Gore that America needs and wants him to run. Please send a letter telling the Vice President why you want him to be our next president, and enclose two pennies, explaining that you'll send more when he announces his candidacy. and I've got a list of ten people that I'm going to contact and ask them to do the same.

Now I need to figure out what I can say that's different this time.

I'm still composing in my head right now.

fwiw, I just talked to one of my old Deaniac buddies. I haven't talked to her since she moved almost two years ago. She called out of the blue and we ended up talking politics. She asked who I was leaning towards and I said "Gore." She is too. I told her about the two cents campaign and she's in. She just finished TAOR and she's convinced Gore is the only one.

blah, blah, blah, how we and the world really need him, yadda, yadda, yadda.

It's on my computer at work, so I can't look at it now.

I send him this picture (one of our puppies chilling with her "Barney" doll)



and I will tell him if that he doesn't run I will take her toy away.

I'll try to keep this one short and sweet -- my last one was pretty long.

I should have a good idea by tomorrow. I want it to be short and sweet.

First I sent him a singing thank you card on monday, thought the song might get the attention of the office people, then yesterday I forced myself to stop whatever I was doing find 2 cents, tape it to small note pad and on that I just wrote my 2 cents is I want him to run for president and will donate, volunteer and vote! Short and to the point...

I am so lazy these days with snail anything, I do 90% or more of my bills online, I email and read news online, listen to radio online, I am glued to computer...

But I also know Al is one of us, on the computer all the time in a big way and he understands that most of us don't write anymore so if we do it our hearts are really in it.

That is, if I can stop re-writing it.
