'Wicker Man' fails to grip viewer (Better to rent the original movie)
After witnessing a terrifying accident, a cop finds himself searching for a little girl among a web of deception in this week's thriller 'The Wicker Man.'

<snip>

This film managed to elicit no emotions whatsoever in me and was among the most completely forgettable films that I have ever viewed for several reasons.

The acting aside from Cage was unfortunately amateurish. This can be blamed partially on the supposed culture of 'Summersisle' but also on the fact that there were a handful of HBO series stars paired with a recognized talent such as Cage. The tone of the film said 'I want to make a quick buck.'

<snip>

Finally, I never felt anything for Cage's character. His vulnerable yet gallant knight of troubled cop was played well but was overshadowed by the weak storyline, script and cliche moments that surrounded him. Searching for the giggling 'shadow-girl' has been played out to the max in recent years (Silent Hill, The Forgotten) and although they tried to put an interesting spin on the tale with the worship of Earth Mother and pagan rituals among this self-exiled community, you were never moved to really feel for either side.

....and there were barely Pagan rituals! Barely, barely! And the music was awful! Long drawn out, making no sense whatever music! When one leaves the movie the thought comes into mind "What the fu&k was the point!"
