Witch sees this season as time to reflect, predict future

Q. You consider yourself a witch. Is that a religion for you, and what does that mean to you?

A. The word "witch" is a very powerful word. Witches have chosen to use it, even though we realize that it sometimes causes misunderstanding. . . . This is a religion for me; I live it every day through my daily devotion (prayers). . . . I do my part in keeping Mother Earth clean. I strive to help others to find their personal power and to follow their souls. I help others to heal, to find the love and power that's deep within and to find peace in all things. I help them increase positive energy in their lives, which in turn attracts all good things. That doesn't mean we won't have hardships, because we will, but I help them to learn to trust their higher self and have faith.

Q. Most of us grew up seeing witch decorations as being a part of Halloween, and some kids even dress up like witches. What does this time of year mean to you?

A. I offer a plate of the harvest fruits to the spirits in attendance, along with a goblet of wine. I burn candles in remembrance of loved ones who have passed on. I feel that this is the best date of the year to perform scrying (to foresee the future), either with crystals, fire or a bowl of water, especially in the moonlight.
