Mother Jones takes on the Christian Right in special "God & Country" issue
Mother Jones takes on the Christian Right in America in a Special Issue titled "God and Country"

The December issue of Mother Jones reads like an issue of Free Inquiry with a special report on the Christian right’s campaign to remake the country in its image.

The eight feature articles in this special issue begin with a lead article by the Council for Secular Humanism's own resident expert Susan Jacoby on why the founding fathers purposely left God out of the Constitution. Included also is a map of the intersecting galaxies of the religious right as seen by Fred Clarkson, plus features on Christian reconstruction, Intelligent Design, Christian radio, and more.

Shorter pieces will include a revealing report on Senator Rick Santorum’s spiritual values, the Jimmy Swaggart Diddly Award for God Abuse, and an analysis of the Pope’s plan to “purify” the priesthood by rooting out gays.

Read online at MotherJones.com on November 21.
