1. In general?
Or the denialists we have right here on DU?

Don't you know that religious people are inherently good?

5. I have to admit I completely missed the Psalm 109:8 flap
But on quick review, it's pretty crass, yes. I don't think that the left had an equivalent bumper sticker that wished an early death on GWB, did we?

6. the ultimate pissing contest
the "my made up, written by a man, but i'm going to call it the word of god because i'm gullible" phrase is better than yours contest. i've been laughing my ass of since it started.

and a rapist could find a phrase in there that justifies rape
and a parent could find a phrase in there that justifies beating their kids.
and world leaders have never had trouble finding phrases in there to justify war, invasion, occupation, class warfare on it's own people, etc etc etc.

some people are making themselves look really fucking stupid with this.

nothing new, i suppose.

I find if somebody looks stupid, there is usually a reason for that.

10. Tell the Christian Fascists to stop hiding behind their bible quotes!
With at least two pastors making the news for calling for the assassination of President Obama (Stephen Anderson and Wiley Drake), why are the gutless supporters of Christian terrorism afraid to just come out and say what's on their minds? Also, why are these bumper stickers and brining guns to presidential appearances even allowed?

11. Psalm after that one, is even worse...
8: May his(A) days be few;
may(B) another take his(C) office!

9: May his(O) children be fatherless
and his wife a widow!

12. Reminds me of this disconnect...
Edited on Wed Nov-25-09 10:12 PM by onager
I often see this verse quoted by liberal Xians, as proof of the wonderful democraciness in their belief system:

Galatians 3:28: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus."

That was Paul.

This is also Paul:

1 Corinthians 11, 7 -9 - Men are made in the image of God; women are made in the image of men. So women were created from and for men.

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 - "If (women) will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in church."

1 Timothy 2:11-12 - "Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence."

1 Timothy 2:14-15 - Men are superior to women since Adam was made first, before Eve. But cheer up; women will "be saved in childbearing."

There's lots more.

I may post this conundrum in R&T, and eagerly await the multiple 20,000 word posts explaining how I don't understand the "context."

And Paul was really one of the first feminists...
