Any of you godless heathens Rush fans (I mean the band of course)

More and more I've come to appreciate how much their atheistic lyrics appeal to me..They've had some really fine thoughtful pieces on reason vs religion over the years including such songs as Free Will and Faithless (and if you want a truly amazing experience try going to a concert and listening to 10,000+ people singing "I will choose Free Will" at the top of their voices :))
But a song from their upcoming Clockwork Angels album takes the cake as the best written critique of religion they've done yet. Its called BU2B (brought up to believe) and here are the lyrics:

Its kind of surprising that given how many out and out atheistic songs they have the fundies never have gone after them the way they go after the "Satanic" bands.

I'd say they were a great value in concert. Played their asses off!

I've bought some of their early albums.

2112 is the only one I have on my ipod. The others were on vinyl and lost etc.

I'm not a big fan and I have discovered in my old age that I don't care--at all--about anybody's lyrics.

Of course, my opinion of them is also colored by a acquaintence, who is a drummer so up his own ass about music that he derides anything and everything that makes it to the radio.

guitar, bass, or drums. Rush seems to be a musician's band.

My stepdad is a drummer for example. Oddly it was a member of this board who is a MATHEMATICIAN by trade who got me into them.:)

That's why I like Tool and a lot of other bands in that genre. Somehow, though, I've never "got" Rush.

TZ, Saw Rush a couple of weeks ago in Detroit and did pick up on their 'atheist trilogy'.
Amazing rock-n-roll from those heathens. BTW, if anyone has seen their DVD that documents the tour of South America, Alex has a copy of Hitchens book on his lap when they are flying on their jet.
