Stupid church sign I saw today:
"It takes a lot of faith to be an atheist." :eyes:

Seen outside the Volunteer Park Seventh Day Adventist Church on Aloha Street in Seattle.

2. Stupid is right.
It's nice to know we bug them just by existing, though.

3. They can't help but frame things from their point of view.
Edited on Fri Jul-22-05 10:53 PM by CarbonDate
As I've mentioned before, since they've been indoctrinated since youth to believe in their deity, it's sort of a "common sense" thing for them that their deity exists, despite a complete dearth of evidence supporting their position. They don't think in terms of proving a positive versus proving a negative.

5. Okey dokey then.
They've really taken the GOP's doublespeak to a new level.

How about "it takes a lot of skepticism to be a christian"? :silly:

6. Actually, I take that as a compliment...
because I am NOT scared and I do have enough faith in myself to live without crutches. How many times do I have to hear people justify religion by saying their children need a "moral code" to live by and they're afraid of how they'd turn out if they didn't "belong" to anything?

7. "I don't have enough faith for evolution."
When I was teaching auto shop at a community college, I had a coffee cup with an evolve fish carrying a wrench. I thought it was humorously appropriate, but my christian supervisor told me to take it home; and that was his reasoning.

AS much as I wanted to, I didn't argue; I needed that job.

and try to maximize the number of gods i believe in (weighted by probability of actually existing, and by the reward which such belief is supposed to incur). according to ther premise of ye olde church sign, that must require the least faith of all.

9. That is pretty damned stupid
I'm so glad my church doesn't get into signs.

There are some really dumb ones out there. Somebody should come up with a top-ten list.

11. Yes... "Stupid" Is A Good Description. I Was Going To Say "Arrogant"...
... it reminds me of the folks who are arrogant enough to declare that someone "isn't-a-REAL-Christian" or "isn't-a-TRUE-Christian".
