Any else enjoy Fox's TV show, "House"?
I know it's in summer re-runs now, but I really enjoy the show. (Tuesdays at 9PM EST).

Gregory House is a cantankerous, but brilliant doctor and the writers of the show give him some real zingers. For example, in one episode:

House is attempting to diagnose a nun, who as per the storyline of the show, has someone unknown ailment that is threatening her life.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
House is in the Chapel, watching his Soap Opera (one of his many personality quirks) on a small portable TV when another nun arrives.
Nun: (Whispers) This is a Chapel. A House of Prayer.
House: (Perplexed) House of Prayer. Huh. That explains the good reception. Also, why no body is ever here.
Nun: I need to talk with you Dr. House. Sister Augustine believes some things that aren't real.
House: I thought that was a job requirement for you people?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I laughed so hard I had to pause the recorded show. I know it's something those of us here have probably thought a thousand times, but hearing it said out loud on network television made my day. :-)

The nun goes on to explain that she thinks Sister Augustine is a hypochondriac.

Later in the episode they've determined it's some kind of allergy that is making the nun ill. She has decided to check herself out of the hospital against medical advice and House tries to talk her out of this course of action. He runs into another doc in the hall and when asked if he'd been able to talk her out of it, House replies that, "she has God in her". The other doc comments, "Maybe she's allergic to God." That made me laugh, too. This comment sets off a light bulb in House's brain (so to speak) and leads to determining what is her true ailment.

Anyway, Hugh Laurie (who is actually a British actor though you'd never know it as he's completely disguised his accent in this show) - as Dr. House - has been nominated for an emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series and one of the writers, David Shore, has also been nominated for the episode titled, "Three Stories".

I'd also like to note, just because, that Naveen Andrews has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actor in "Lost". He plays, "Sayid Jarrah" an ex- Iraqi National Guard. I thought it took guts for him to take on that role.

Do I care about the Emmy Awards? Not so much. But, I watch Pop Culture almost, well, not nearly as much, as I watch politics. But Tee-Vee does effect politics and culture, you have to admit.

1. I've started watching House
But I'm a little sick of the "seven minute solution" conceit. Hugh Laurie is awesome. I loved him in "Jeeves and Wooster" and never would have thought he could pull off a plausible American accent.

2. I've watched it several times and found it entertaining.
It also had the good luck to be on when most other channels had noting watchable on. So while flipping around, I latched onto it.

Hi Syn, ready for another meet-up?:hi:

3. I watched it during the regular season.
Hugh Laurie definitely makes that show. The first I remember him is from Sense and Sensibilities. He also does a good job in the remake of Flight of the Phoenix.

I hope they don't let us down with a "House finds religion" episode!
