Hitchikers guide to the galaxy
coming to a theatre near you in May 2005...

Martin Freeman Arthur Dent

Mos Def Ford Prefect

Sam Rockwell Zaphod Beeblebrox

Zooey Deschanel Tricia McMillan ("Trillian")

Bill Nighy Slartibartfast

I saw previews before National Treasure last week. Yeah, I get previews to Hitchhikers and others who saw National Treasure saw previews to Star Wars III! Not fair I tell ya!

I'm going to the movies tonight and I doubt I see previews for Star Wars since I'm going to see Kinsey.

1. You can see the trailer here ...

I love the casting ... I can't think of anyone more perfect for Arthur than Martin Freeman. And Sam Rockwell certainly proved that he has the attitude to carry Zaphod--check out his performance in "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" if you don't know what I mean.

2. They had better not fuck this up.
That would be profane.

3. I will watch the BBC TV version on opening day, here's why:

Nice to see no-names for the cast. A big star name would definitely ruin it.

However, this is America. Mainstream Americans do not like wit. They like pee and fart jokes, and people bumping into walls. While that isn't bad, that is NOT HHGTTG material. HHGTTG is witty and sardonic.

Will there be a Narrator for the Book, as in the radio and BBC TV editions? If not, I won't even spend a penny on it... (British pun WAS intentional.)
