Survivor Contest - With a prize donated by yours truly.
Hey everyone. I was walking up Broadway today and stopped in the CBS store. They had some old Survivor stuff on sale, so I got one of the camo buffs that were not used in the last season and two t-shirts. I had an idea for one of the t-shirts. Let have a contest and it is the prize.

At anytime prior to the start of the game, pick out a survivor. Whoever's survivor pick makes it the furthest in the game wins the prize. Each survivor can only be picked by one person, so make the name the subject of you post. First person to post a survivors name gets that survivor.

The prize is a XXL (sorry all the sale stuff was S or XXL) t-shirt from last season donated by the strangelove family. It has the large Survivor Palau symbol on the back and the same symbol in smaller size over the left front breast. It is 100% cotton, so it may well shrink a bit. I'll pick up the postage and mail it anywhere in the US.

I'll wait til next Monday or Tuesday to make my pick to give everyone a chance. If 16 people play, each week we can say good-bye to someone. It should be fun.

Just because, although it says he is from Dallas, he is really from Tulsa. FWIW, he went to Casia Hall, a fairly exclusive private school, so he is no dumb hick.

4. I'm going to pick Brian Corridan
He is a young kid (age 22), and they usually don't do well. But this guy appeals to me. I was going to go with Morgan or Gary, but Morgan is just too good looking for a geek like me to cheer for and Gary used to play for the Cowboys (I'm a die hard Giants fan). I'm still hoping Stephanie comes back this season.

9. I heard no one knows he was a QB
He was not exactly a household name, and most of the cast were in diapers when he was playing ball. I hope he does not get a target, becasue he seems pretty cool. I can't wait, just a few more days.

21. Well, I'm out
I was out of town last week, but OKNancy is out for her pick of Blake Towsley and I am out for the Brian Corridan pick. I guess the young guys are going down again.

Here are the remaining players in our contest:
ernstbass - Cindy
Qanisqineq - Danni B.
qanda - Gary Hogeboom
Goblinmonger - Lydia
Patiod - Amy
babylonsister - Judd

I think Gary and Amy are doomed to follow Brian out. So far I like Danni to win this thing. Judd is fun to watch so I hope he sticks around. I love Stephanie, but her whining is getting to me. I think she will be around for some time though.

26. Five are still in it
We still have five players left. My pick for final winner is still Stef, Rafe or Danni. I think Qanisqineg has the best chances of our remaining group. Danni is smart and I think they will not worry about her until it is too late b/c she has not been an immunity threat yet.
Here are the five remaining DUers and their picks.
ernstbass - Cindy
Qanisqineq - Danni B.
qanda - Gary Hogeboom
Goblinmonger - Lydia
babylonsister - Judd

35. Goodbye babylonsister - Here is our final 3
Sorry babylonsister, but Judd got axed. We have three of the final five, which is great considering that we did not know one of them would even be in the show.

The DU Final Three is:
Good luck and one of you gets the T-Shirt (Which has been sitting in my desk drawer for four months now in the CBS bag and I am anxious to pass it on.

ernstbass - Cindy
Qanisqineq - Danni B.
Goblinmonger - Lydia

Here are some rambling thoughts of mine going in to the finals:
I think Danni is the front-runner of the group, because she was not in the alliance and was not friends with a majority of the jury, so I think the plan will be to take her to the final 2. I think Lydia goes home next, she is just too unpredictable. I think Rafe and Cindy will mend their alliance for a few days, despite his not telling her about Judd. The only way Stef makes it to the final three is if she wins immunity. Again, I think everyone is going to want to take Danni to the finals (assuming she will lose) but I think she will surprise them all and win this thing. We will see.

36. I agree with your assessment
Before when you used to say that Danni may stick around and win it all, I just couldn't see it. Now, I'm convinced that you are right. Her move last night was so smart and she has hung around long enough to completely alter the game by just being the odd man out.

37. Thanks
She played the game well. The odd man out always does well once the strong alliance starts to break up. Once Lydia started to turn, I knew Danni would make the final four, though I thought it would be either Judd and Stef or Cyndylouwho and Rafe who got her over in a threesome. I did not think Stef would turn on Judd like she did. Anyway, I hope Danni will win this whole thing, I like her best. Next is Rafe, then Cyndylouwho.

40. Rafe's actions, RE: Cindy's decision to keep the car
made me lower my opinion of him. Why couldn't he see that at least she's leaving/left the game with something? And she was right to do so, as it turned out. That Steph is one backstabber, isn't she.
And Lydia flying under the radar is scary; can you imagine if, despite her many inabilities, she wins?

41. I agree with you about Rafe
Sometimes it's easy to say what you would have done when you're not in that position. And the fact that Cindy actually needed the car made it far more likely that she would keep the car for herself. I think Lydia is the only one that Stephanie can win against. If Lydia makes it into the final two, I predict she will lose.

Stephanie is the biggest backstabber in Survivor history, and why the remaining contestants didn't form a plan to oust her earlier is beyond me.

42. I wouldn't be so upset about Lydia in the finals...
She is playing the game she can play, and making very few mistakes as far as I can see by editing.
She's not strong, not fast, not young - and she's found herself a niche and is playing very smart for someone like her, as someone who is trying to be valuable enough to keep by helping around camp and being part of a voting block, but not too visible to be considered a threat or to stand out one way or another.
She's smart enough to have pretty accurately scoped out who is in power at any one time, constantly adapts and has offered herself as part of a voting block to keep in the game, she isn't "surprised" that at anyone who goes or that she can be the next one gone, and now that there's not so many people she can hide behind, she's becoming more assertive in setting herself up to be a swing vote.
There have been many people like her, socially physically and mentally that have not made it as far as she has, because they've made the critical error of standing out at the wrong time. So far, she's been able to control her play a lot longer than they have without really having an alliance to protect her, like Scout (a similar player) in Vanuatu had.

It's all about Outwit, Outlast, Outplay. Not just who's the best at the social club or brute strength. Flying under the radar is perfect strategy for someone who is not very strong and not one of the alphas in the "right alliances". If I were in her position as it is right now (strength wise and alliance wise), I'd be playing pretty much the same way.

"That being said" (and I hate that saying! :) ), I'm really pulling for Danni and Rafe as final two. Stepha-ME can go any time, now that she's finally won individual immunity for herself. It only took two seasons...

(Yeah, and I will certainly argue about Stepha-Me being the "strongest female competitor". Off the top of my head, there was Helen, Ami, Amber, Shii-Ann, Darrah, Katie, and even Danni in this season that can be considered equal to or better than her in many different ways than just looking cute flying under the radar in a hopeless mess of a tribe the first season and sitting on her celebrity the second season.)
